OMG, where do I even start? I mean, seriously, I'm still reeling from the emotional rollercoaster that is HE WHO DROWNED THE WORLD. Shelly Parker-Chan has outdone herself with this one - it's like she somehow bottled up the essence of my soul and put it on paper (in a good way, obvi). The story is so vivid, I felt like I was right there alongside Mokugo as he navigated the treacherous waters of his own world. And don't even get me started on the characters - each one is more complex and multi-dimensional than the last.
So, yeah, it's no surprise that I stayed up till 2am to finish this (and I'm not exactly a night owl, if you recall). It's like Parker-Chan knew exactly which buttons to push to keep me hooked from start to finish. And honestly, if you haven't read SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN yet, stop what you're doing and go grab it - it's basically the same vibe (but in a different way, obvi). Trust me, your bedtime routine will have to wait.
Original Micro-Review: "OMG. Well, let me put it this way. I stayed up til 2am to finish this and my bedtime is normally 11pm, so... yeah. It's great. Go read SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN. Seriously, stop scrolling, go read. Now. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
