I'm still reeling from the thrill ride that is Blood of the Mantis. The Shadow Box plot thickens in this installment, and I'm hooked on the escalating war between the Spiderlands and the Wasps. What really stood out to me was the depth of characterization for each nation - it's like Scott Lynch's Locke Lamora series all over again! The unique cultures, histories, and quirks of each race are so vividly rendered that I found myself fully immersed in this world.
One of my favorite aspects is how different the various nations really are. No two have similar cultures or motivations, which makes for some fascinating conflicts and alliances. It's clear that the author has put a lot of thought into crafting these distinct worlds within the Spiderlands, and it pays off big time. I'm loving every minute of this series so far!
Original Micro-Review: "This Shadow Box is super intriguing. The war against the Wasps gets bigger! I love the characterization of the Spiderlands, very Locke Lamora-y. And I love how different the races are! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
