SALUTE THE DARK is a game-changer. The author's bold move to raise the stakes is exactly what this story needed - and boy, does it ever pay off. Without giving too much away, let's just say that every character, no matter how seemingly insignificant, becomes crucial in the grand scheme of things. It's like the author took all our favorite characters and gave them a serious wake-up call: "You're not safe, you're not special, and you'd better be ready to fight for your life." I mean, who wouldn't want that? And can we talk about those gladiator scenes? Woah. I'm not even kidding when I say they were rad - like, seriously intense and thrilling. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, hoping our heroes would make it out alive (spoiler: they don't always). As for mosquitoes... well, let's just say that by the end of this book, you'll be more than happy to swat at those pesky little critters - anything to distract you from the emotional whiplash SALUTE THE DARK will give you.

Original Micro-Review: "Well... this just ratcheted the stakes up to the next level. Not going to spoil anything, but clearly NOBODY IS SAFE. Also, uh, more gladiator stuff, please. That was rad. Also, I never did like mosquitoes. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
