Book Cover: A SHADOW IN SUMMER

// EXPANDED CRITIQUE

I'm not surprised that A Shadow in Summer blew me away - after falling in love with The Expanse series under the pen name James S.A. Corey (which, coincidentally, is a collaboration between Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), I knew I had to check out his solo work. And let's just say, this book did not disappoint. What really caught my attention was how deeply rooted in Asian culture and history the story is - it's like nothing I've ever read before. The world-building is meticulous, with a deep respect for the cultures and traditions that Abraham draws inspiration from. What really has me excited is where the series might go from here. Without giving too much away, the ending of A Shadow in Summer left me eager to dive back into this richly detailed world and see what's in store for the characters. With Abraham's masterful storytelling and the promise of a fascinating premise, I'm all in for the next installment - and if you're like me and loved The Expanse, you'd be remiss not to give this series a try.

Original Micro-Review: "I loved The Expanse, and Abraham is one half of James S.A. Corey, so I obviously had to read this series. I didn't expect it to be so Asian-inspired, but I dig it. Looking forward to #2. x.com/BrianTheGlee... ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
