I loved diving back into the world of TESTED, this time with Matti and her would-be beau, the elven assassin, navigating the treacherous waters of the dwarven kingdom. As usual, Lindsay Buroker's got some serious chemistry going on between our leads - I'm fully invested in their will-they-won't-they tension! But what really gets me pumped is how seamlessly she weaves together action-packed battles with clever politics and oh-so-dramatic plot twists. The stakes are higher than ever as Matti and her crew try to get the princess off their backs (literally, in one super intense scene).
What really shines here is Buroker's ability to balance humor and heart - I was laughing out loud at some of the more ridiculous moments, but also totally feeling the emotional weight when things got real. Onto book 5, indeed!
Original Micro-Review: "Book 4 comes hot off the heels of book 3, and Matti and her almost-boyfriend elven assassin have to somehow get into the dwarven kingdom... whose princess wants to murder both of them! Fun adventure! Onto book 5! ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
