This series just gets better and better, and I'm not even mad that it's got me hooked - The Sea Watch is a fantastic addition to the world of the Apt! One of the things that really stands out is how seamlessly the author introduces the underwater setting without sacrificing the core of what makes this series so great. It's like they bottled up the magic of the original stories and just dropped us right into the ocean, surrounded by the same wit, charm, and action we've come to love.
Of course, having Stenwold around doesn't hurt either - that bird is still the best! His dry humor and no-nonsense attitude always crack me up, and I'm so glad he's along for this underwater adventure. The Sea Watch does everything a great sequel should do: it deepens our understanding of the world, introduces new and intriguing characters, and raises the stakes in a way that feels both earned and exciting. If you haven't started this series yet, seriously - what are you waiting for? Dive on in (see what I did there?) and get ready to join the ranks of the Apt!
Original Micro-Review: "It's been a long time since I've read a series this consistently good. The world of the Apt (and Inapt!) expands... under the sea! (under the sea!) Fantastic story, Stenwold is the best, etc etc. Start this series yesterday please! ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
