This book is seriously blowing my mind. I've devoured so many amazing novels this year, but The Raven Scholar somehow manages to stand out from the pack. Hodgson's writing is just incredible - she weaves together historical facts and fictional elements with ease, creating a narrative that's both engrossing and thought-provoking. The story itself is a wild ride, following a young scholar as he uncovers dark secrets and navigates treacherous alliances in 18th-century London. Trust me when I say it's impossible to put down.
What really sets this book apart, though, is the way Hodgson handles her characters. They're all so richly drawn and complex - I found myself genuinely caring about what happened to them (even the "bad guys"!). The world-building is equally impressive, with vivid descriptions of 18th-century London that transported me right there. All in all, if you haven't read this one yet, do yourself a favor and grab it ASAP. It's definitely in my top 5 for the year!
Original Micro-Review: ""I'd say this was the best book I've read this year, except that I've read a LOT of VERY GOOD BOOKS" out of 10. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
