What can I even say about Kingdoms of Death? The Sun Eater saga just keeps getting better and better! Christopher Ruocchio has outdone himself with this installment - the epic scifi storytelling is still there, but he's also dug deeper into his characters and worldbuilding. I love how he weaves together aliens, religion, and politics to create a rich tapestry that's both thought-provoking and heart-pounding at the same time. And let me tell you, the carnage? Yeah, it's not for the faint of heart.
But what really gets me is how Ruocchio isn't afraid to get emotional with his story. He takes risks and doesn't shy away from exploring the complexities of his characters' experiences. I was genuinely invested in their struggles and triumphs - and by the end of the book, I was a mess! The ending had me on the verge of tears, wondering what would happen next (spoiler alert: I'm still waiting for the next installment). Ruocchio's got a way with words that makes you feel like you're right there alongside his characters, and it's just incredible.
Original Micro-Review: "The Sun Eater saga continues to amaze me. Epic scifi storytelling. Aliens, religion, worldbuilding, carnage. It's powerful and moving, as well. I was near tears at the end. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
