// EXPANDED CRITIQUE

I was totally sold on BETRAYED from the get-go, and it's because Lindsay Buroker nailed that enemies-to-lovers trope so perfectly! It's like she took all my favorite aspects of urban fantasy, tossed in some sassy goblins, and hit me right where I live. The characters start to have actual feelings - you know, those pesky emotions we humans can't seem to shake off - and it was absolute bliss watching them navigate their complicated histories. What really won me over, though, was the way Buroker approached her world-building. Her take on goblins? Genius! I loved how they were more than just snarling, scrawny creatures; they had a whole culture, with their own quirks and motivations. And let's not forget the action - oh boy, it was non-stop fun! The story hit all the right beats for me, leaving me feeling satisfied and eager to dive back into this world again. Overall, BETRAYED is an urban fantasy fan's dream come true, and I'm so glad I got to experience it.

Original Micro-Review: "The enemies start to have FEELINGS. The best part of the trope, tbh. This book hit all the right beats and satisfies my urban fantasy itch. I love the take on goblins, too! ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
