Andrew Rowe's A Brief History of Chronomancy is a fantastic addition to the Arcane Ascension series, and I'm so glad I got to dive back into this world. What really stood out for me was how seamlessly the book integrated chronomancy - a new magic system that's both fascinating and complex - into the existing lore. If you're a fan of hard magic systems like Brandon Sanderson's, you'll likely be impressed by Rowe's attention to detail and creative approach. And, as someone who loves progression fantasy, I appreciated how this installment allowed Corin to take center stage and show off his growth and development.
While some fans of the series might have been hoping for more of a team effort from the main characters, I actually enjoyed the focus on Corin's journey here. It allowed for some great character exploration and insight into his motivations and emotions. Plus, it was awesome to see him face new challenges and push himself to become an even stronger chronomancer. Overall, A Brief History of Chronomancy is a fantastic addition to the series that will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you're looking for more Corin-centric stories or just want to dive deeper into this world, this is definitely the way to go!
Original Micro-Review: "Excellent addition to the Arcane Ascension series. If you like hard magic systems (Sanderson) and progression fantasy (Cradle), this might be up your alley! This was more Corin-centric than the others, but very enjoyable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
